Summer Plans
By Stephen Weygandt
I know we're all looking forward to summer as the school year comes to an end, but are we all looking forward to the same summer? The answer, of course, is no, we're not going to all have the same plans, that wouldn't make much sense and would defeat the purpose of summer vacation, wouldn't it?

The Ishpeming Public Schools requested a 2.95- millage increase but it was defeated by voters in the election held on May 4th. This millage would of raised 11.2 million dollars to make an addition to Birchview Elementary School. This would include the closing of C.L. Phelps Middle School. However the plans were defeated by a vote of 756-579. Superintendent Stephen Piereson said he was "extremely disappointed" that voters turned down the millage proposal and somewhat surprised at the large margin of votes.

Leadership In Our Community

Kara Dale and Aubrey Millimaki:
A good leader is someone others can look up to. They are responsible, reliable, and respectful. They set a path for others to follow, and influence their actions and thoughts. It takes a lot to be a leader, and there aren’t many in Ishpeming High School. We need to change this and get inspired, or inspire others to want to be leaders.
