C.L. Phelps Middle School

History

In 1896 the town of Ishpeming built the High Street School, the second school in the area. This school was demolished on site in order to make room for the C.L. Phelps Middle School which was built and dedicated in 1959. The new school was recognized for the large fine arts wing, industrial arts facilities, and the home economic space.
