Harlem Globetrotters Come To Marquette!

By: Shane Nardi and Luke Roberts

On January 6th the Berry Events Center in Marquette became the spot where the Harlem Globetrotters played one of their 270 games that they will play in North America on their "Magical Memories" world tour. This team brought a crowd of 4,000 people, ranging from young children to adults. The Harlem Globetrotters played the Washington Generals and amazed the audience with their trick shots, high flying dunks and other entertaining skills. There was also some comedy brought into the show, especially with their mascot, Globie, who put on his own comedy act.

Greg Trick, one of our local newsmen, even played with the Washington Generals, and made two free throws. "The Globetrotters were not at all what I expected. They make playing basketball fun and entertaining to watch." said Luke Roberts, who attended the event. The Globetrotters were also very fan-friendly, and stayed out on the court after the game for autographs and pictures.

This picture shows the Harlem Globetrotters standing at center court, while packed bleachers full of fans watch the game.
