Al Quaal Recreation Area

Al Quaal is a 300-acre park on the north side of Ishpeming near Teal Lake. Al Quaal has an abundance of backwood trails that are great for cross country skiing. The main ski trails in Al Quaal are the Deer Lake Trail, Olympic Trail, Teal Lake Trail, and Baby Lake Trail.

Al Quaal is also home to "the rocks," located on Teal Lake, between Ishpeming and Negaunee. Many kids on hot days make their way through Al Quaal for a nice swim. Al Quaal also supports a boat launch for Teal Lake.

People gather in Al Quaal for the town's 4th of July celebrations. The championship games for the annual alumni softball games are held in Al Quaal and it is also where people come to watch the firework display. There are also games for kids and other activities for adults in the Al Quaal area on the 4th of July, and the Italian Fest.

Winter activities in Al Quaal include cross-country skiing, sledding, and snowshoeing.

The Al Quaal recreation area also contains a baseball field, basketball, tennis, and volleyball courts. There are also playgrounds for kids in the area.

Birchview Elementary School is located in Al Quaal.
